UDRIL Conversions will Highlight Fall Releases
Our GIS team has been working through the summer months to convert the old UDRIL project files to more modern geodatabase formats and reformat all the data to match current GIS server standards. This update project has been under way for most of this year and we expect to release the newer versions before mid-December.
Updating the technology will bring long-overdue features and more flexibility to the data.
“But what this really means to our current subscribers,” says Ron Hart, Datapages Manager, “is we now can begin working to bring online many newer data projects from our content partners. Many of the same organizations who work with us to provide upstream information via our Archives and DEO programs already have other non-published data collections that can benefit from GIS format and delivery.”
Watch this newsletter for more detail as each new project begins to come online this fall, and into 2016.
THANKS to our Summer Students
Datapages recognizes the hard work given by our summer student interns – now returned to Fall classes. Four interns were hired for the summer months to help with the conversion and classification of images and maps in the DEO database. Thanks to Liang Xue and Nathan Campbell (Oklahoma State University), and to Yunhua Liu and Bing Li (Missouri University of Science and Technology).
On the Road with Datapages
Datapages team members attended fall conferences to talk about our new projects and to meet our users and partners. Since September, we attended: AAPG ICE at Melbourne (Sept. 13-16); AAPG Eastern Section at Indianapolis (Sept. 20-22); and AAPG Midcontinent at Tulsa (Oct. 4-6).
We want to meet our users and find out more about what you do with our data. Our Team will be attending the following conferences:
Africa Oil Week / Africa Upstream (Cape Town), Oct. 26-30 – Vesna Vokins, marketing coordinator of our DEO team will attend this African E&P conference. She will offer demonstrations of our Datapages Exploration Objects and other GIS based online databases. Check out what we have at Booth 96. Make an appointment to talk with us.
Geological Society of America (Baltimore), Nov. 1-4 – Peter Wigley, director of our DEO team will present in the Vendor Forum of Geoscience Information Society (GSIS) on Monday, and also will discuss the historic Strata Smith suite of online maps during a special Sunday afternoon session (2 – 4 p.m. in Room 327/328/329).
PROSPEX (London), Dec. 10-11 – Several of Datapages’ team will attend this PESGB- and UK Oil and Gas Authority-sponsored event at the London Design Centre. We want to show our newest database ideas and meet our users. Check out what we have at Booth 9. Make an appointment to talk with us.
